Fresh from one of their most complete performances of the season — a 107-point demolition of Wodonga Raiders last Saturday — the Pigeons have surged into a strong position inside the top five and are building serious momentum at the right time of year.
But with finals fast approaching, the stakes are only getting higher.
Saturday’s clash against the sixth placed Panthers looms as a finals-style contest before September, with Yarrawonga chasing another crucial win in its push towards the 2026 finals series.
With other local leagues and teams enjoying a well-earned mid-season bye, the Yarrawonga Football Netball Club is urging members of the community to get behind the Pigeons and turn JC Lowe Oval into a sea of blue and white.
“Bring your family. Bring your mates. Bring your flags, scarves, drums and voices. Pack Pigeons Grove Oval and create the atmosphere that makes our home ground one of the toughest places to play in the competition,” the club said.
“Our players have done the work on the track. Now they need their 19th player.
“Let’s make the 4th of July at Pigeons Grove Oval one to remember and show Lavington exactly what home-ground advantage in Yarrawonga looks like. Go Pigeons.”
With the momentum building, finals on the line and a huge home crowd expected on a forecasted sunny day, Saturday’s senior football clash, which starts at 2pm, has all the ingredients of a classic.
