The Deniliquin Croquet Club’s 2026 Long Paddock Classic was played on Saturday and Sunday, and was a successful event once again.

Visiting players attended from Victoria and other parts of NSW.
Kevin Norton from Shepparton defeated Mary Tabrah from Traralgon in Division 1.
Deni’s own Garry Brose defeated Margory McKenzie from Queenscliff in Division 2.
Jill Budge from Monash defeated Lorraine Powell from Mildura in Division 3.
Local businesses were keen supporters of the classic again this year.
In local competition on Wednesday, 19 members played.
Gary Brose was declared the outright winner from the trio of three game winners, on a hoop countback from Allan Higgins second and Peter Whittakers third.
The two game achievers were Mary James, Terry Murphy, John James, Brad Fawns and Brian Dudley.
There were 10 jump shots, including two each to Garry Brose, Brian Dudley and Frank Conallin. The others were from Terry Murphy, Trevor David and Peter Whittakers.
Mario Cavallaro and Bob White, both new players, scored hoops-in-one.
The spring pennant kicked off yesterday, Thursday, August 27, with Deniliquin fielding two teams.
Results were not available before going to print and will be reported next week.
Deniliquin Blue, under the captaincy of Mary James, played Shepparton Magpies at home.
Deniliquin White, under the captaincy of Leo Barry, played Euroa away.
