Best scratch score for his 80 went to Aaron Briggs. A total of 17 players took part which was down on previous numbers.

Regular John Wiseman proposed the ninth annual toast to the event’s inventor, the late Brian McKee. “I thank the McKee family for this particular honour. It’s a privilege to propose the toast to Brian,” he said.

“Quite often I wear the McKee Classic golf shirt when I play down the Mornington Peninsular to promote Brian’s name and his event.”

On the Par 4 seventh hole, John struck his second shot well from near the treeline on the right. But it ricocheted off a branch, went 10 metres sideways and hit his good mate Peter Grant in the backside. Peter nearly got his revenge when his own wayward shot two holes later went close to the bad shot originator.

Players and family members recalled some great McKee Classics over the years, never forgetting a Mulwlala Citizen of the Year Brian, who passed away in 2011 aged 59-years-of-age. He would have turned 70-years-of-age this year.
