The Redbacks sit third, behind ladder leader Kyabram Fire Brigade (28 points), but Rochester, Moama White and Moama Black are all equal with them on 20 points.
Since the new year competition has recommenced the Redbacks have been in outstanding form — notching impressive wins against Leitchville-Gunbower and Tongala.
They scored 1-129 against Leitchville-Gunbower and then restricted their opposition to 4-45 in the T20 match.
Batting after winning the toss, opening batters Rhys Parsons (retired 23, two boundaries and two sixes) and Riley Nicholson (retired 20, one boundary and two sixes) were stars.
Asher Porch (retired 14) and Anthony Evans (retired 22) added to the tally before Thomas Barnard and Georgia Leonard contributed to the win with the ball.
A week later the Redbacks amassed 3-172 after again electing to bat, Heath Ogden the star of the 20 overs 3-172 run total.
Ogden faced 33 deliveries and smashed six boundaries alongside three sixes to finish not out 51.
Flynn Burrows (not out 26), Parsons (backing up his previous week’s tally with 22 from 11 deliveries) and Jimmy Badgery (retired 22 from 11 balls) were the stars.
Lacy Parsons also scored a quick-fire not out 10 at the tail end of the innings.
Tongala’s run chase started slowly when Barnard (2-11 from two overs) and Leonard (2-5 from 1.2 overs) again combined to create headaches for opposition batters.
Five Tongala players were dismissed without scoring, but Kevin Maurizi was outstanding amid the fall of his teammates.
He struck four boundaries in a 39-ball innings that was rewarded with not out 19 — Tongala’s only double figure contribution in its 9-45 total.
·Top team Fire Brigade won its round six match with BLU by forfeit, before claiming a narrow win against Rochester a week later.
Rochester batted after winning the toss in the T20 format match, scoring 2-93 from 19.4 overs as Fire Brigade bowlers Jonty Sefton and Billy Sheppard took wickets.
In reply Fire Brigade top order batters Aidan Greiner (retired 13), Billy Isaac (not out 24 from 30 deliveries) and Archie Sheppard (not out 22 from 22 deliveries) were stars.
They won the game with a 5-96 from 20 overs, Xavier Dodos retired for 12 being the remaining double figure contributor.
· Tonight’s final round of home and away matches has top team Fire Brigade facing off against ninth ranked Echuca South, while third ranked Kyabram Redbacks face bottom team BLU.
Rochester, second on the ladder, should also win its final round match as it confronts second from the bottom Leitchville-Gunbower.
· In GMC under-11 competition Tongala and Rochester played a close match at Brose Oval.
Rochester scored 98 as Tongala bowlers Nate Chantler and Ella Forde took two wickets each, then the home side managed 89 in reply from its 20 overs.
Mitchell Melverton took two wickets for Kyabram Redbacks in their loss to Echuca White and Aiden Drew was the pick of the Kyabram batters.
Cooper Ohlsen was not out six at the end of the Redbacks and Rochester match, while Liam Parsons and captain Oliver Dervish were stars with the ball.
