Blighty A-grade went down in a tough contest against a very strong and competitive opposition.
We welcomed Emily Harvey and Lily Petersen up from our junior sides, and both girls should be very proud of their efforts.
They held their own at senior level, showing great composure, effort and a willingness to compete all game. Their work rate around the court was fantastic and they never stopped trying.
Olive Morton played her first game for the club and made an immediate impact. She slotted into defence seamlessly, applying strong and consistent pressure to the opposition shooters and working hard to create turnovers.
Alicia Osborne also worked really well in defence, creating some important turnovers and applying strong pressure throughout the game.
With a number of new players in the side, it was always going to take time to build connections.
The team worked hard throughout the game to find their rhythm and by the end of the game we started to gel nicely.
A special mention to Ashlea Charlton, who celebrated her 100th club game this weekend a fantastic milestone for her at such a young age.
Ashlea stayed composed under pressure, stuck to her role and continued to work hard in the goal circle, combining well with Steph Barry and leading by example.
Meagan Lowry once again put in a tireless performance, working end to end all day. She helped drive the ball forward and provided strong support both in attack and defence.
Stevie Bateman also worked hard through the midcourt, creating options and linking play well.

In the defensive end, Georgia Moody and Alex Barry combined well again this week to apply strong pressure on Picola.
They secured plenty of rebounds and executed some lovely intercepts, and it’s fantastic to see this partnership continuing to develop.
At wing defence, Carla Crossley played a key role in the second quarter, shutting down the wing attack and making it much harder for Picola’s attackers to score.

The team embraced the rolling subs well, using them strategically to keep fresh legs on the court and try to keep the scoreboard within reach.
Picola were quick to capitalise on any lapses, but the Blighty girls never dropped their heads and continued to push.
Defensively, Bec Rourke, Niccola Stanworth and Chook Watson worked strongly together, applying consistent pressure and putting in a solid four-quarter effort.
Their work rate and persistence didn’t go unnoticed.
After an injury scare, it was fantastic to see Ciara D’Aprile return to the court and produce some of her best netball in the final quarter, showing real resilience and composure.
In attack, Rach Bucholtz was once again sensational, working tirelessly and moving beautifully through the attacking end to create opportunities and shooting some great goals.
There is still plenty to learn and work on, but the growth in this group is clear.
Another week at training and to keep building, and it’s only a matter of time before it all comes together.

It wasn’t our day on the scoreboard, and at times the girls struggled to find their rhythm.
Picola capitalised on their opportunities, and we just couldn’t quite bring it together when it mattered.
But what stood out (and always does) is the grit in this team. The girls kept fighting, kept supporting each other, and never dropped their heads, that says a lot about the culture you’re building.
Bronte O’Brien had a great fourth quarter, really doing well in WD.
Sarah Bain also stepped up and changed up positions and went in attack.
