After significant rain and hail during the week, the Rennie Recreation Reserve displayed few remnants of the wild weather on Saturday. The day began in full sun, with the Deni Rovers making the hour and a half trek to Rennie.

A Grade

A Grade had their first win of the season with a solid performance against last year’s premiers. It was a great team performance with a solid defensive effort all over the court.
Alisha O’Dwyer and Shani Dickins dominated in the defense end and the ball movement into the attack end was much cleaner than previous weeks.
The new look team is improving each week and will continue to consolidate the performance as the season progresses and the team get more match fit.
Awards: Bella Pelle - Alisha O’Dwyer, Lake Mulwala Hotel - Brianna Magro and Wingate’s Sports - Brylee McCarty.

Unable to train Thursday night didn’t help Rennie B Grade’s first half.
Poor decisions with the ball meant a lack of flow down the court and the Hoppers struggled to get it into the goal ring.
Positional changes at half time saw a much better, settled game. The girls utilized the ball positively.
The defenders worked over time in and around the ring with many intercepts and in the goal end, Rennie worked hard all day to find the best position under the ring.
Mid court again showed a four-quarter effort, finding the pockets of space for leading and driving. Very exciting team to watch.
Awards: Burke’s Hotel – Kaitlyn Ackerly, Yarrawonga Hotel – Jess Westwood, One Zach – Nada Nolen and The Publican’s Daughter – Ctaherine Shaw.

In a game where the score didn’t reflect how hard the girls fought, the Hoppers went down by 14 goals.
Really strong passages of play throughout but just couldn’t keep up with the fast paced Rovers. The girls are improving each and every week. Let’s keep up the good work.
Awards: Yarrawonga Hotel – Kacey Kindred, Terminus Hotel – Haylea Blick, Lake Mulwala Bakery – Georgia Hope and Brick Lane – Tayla Adkins.

Another great game for the girls getting a win in over last years premiers.
C Res welcomed back Emma to the team and had coach Laura jump on court which helped boost the team.
The defensive work of Em and Em created plenty of turnovers and the mid court run kept up all game.
Mia from under 15’s had a great half and stood up well running with the senior girls.
The whole team is doing a great job taking on feedback and putting it into practice on the court and are shaping up to have a successful season.
Awards: Yarrawonga Hotel – Emily Stanley, Bundalong Tavern – Emma Chessells, Lake Mulwala Bakery – Amy Smith and Thyme for Coffee – Britt Harris.
Under 17s

All the girls can hold their heads high as they played amazing netball, defending brilliantly and attacking with every turnover.
Each player did exactly what they were asked, well done girls.
Awards: Lake Mulwala Bakery - Charlie Hargreaves, Balance Spin Studio - Kaitlin Percy and Judd’s Mensland Visor- Sophie James.
Under 15s

Another good game by all girls. It was a very physical game with Deni putting the pressure on right down the court.
The girls held their composure and played their own game.
At both quarter and half time, Rennie were only up by one, but managed to come away with a 13 goal win.
Awards: Yarrawonga Fish’n’Chips - Sophie O’Dwyer who came out firing in GK and also played a great quarter in GS.
Athenaeum - Abbey Coghill who played a great game in defence picking off a large number of intercepts.
Red Back Waste - Ella Rhodes who constantly moved around the ring making great position in goals.
Under 13s

The girls knew it was going to be a tough game against third on the ladder Deni but were willing to try their best and didn’t give up.
With no training on Thursday due to the weather, players felt a bit lost on the court and Deniliquin’s height made it hard to score goals.
Despite the score line, the girls all worked extremely hard, turning over lots of balls, but unfortunately couldn’t be converted.
Good effort girls, lots to work on at training.
There’s big hearts, determination and great teamwork, let’s bring it!
Awards: Lake Mulwala Bakery – Sophia Shaw, Judd’s Mensland Visor – Lucy Bassett and McDonald’s – Heleena Shaw.
Under 11s
Rennie Under 11s had a slow start to a much taller, stronger Deni side. The girls worked hard all day and showed great listening at breaks to get back on the court and play better netball each time.
Encouraging one another and smiles all round meant the girls met the number one goal and that is to have fun.
This Thursday night the Under 11s and Under 13s will enjoy a “Mother-Daughter” training session from 5:30pm followed by dinner in the Rennie clubrooms with all other netballers and footballers to attend.
Awards: RRR Canteen Voucher - Demi Rhodes, Courtyard Cafe - Tess Bassett and McDonald’s - Chloe Perryman.
Saturday, May 11 is “Back to Rennie” day.
The club look forward to seeing many past players and families come to join in to reminisce over former glory days.
