Katamatite 68 defeated Rennie 26.
After 19 months of netball exile and 2 preseasons the Hoppers were back on the court full of nerves!! And what a tough opponent the Rennie girls encountered first up.
With a young line-up in the attacking end and a new look team who had never played together there were some great passages of play were the Hoppers worked the ball around well and were patient but the more experienced opponents were just too strong.
They had obviously a big history playing together. The Hoppers were well supported in the goal end by Ella Rhodes (who debuted in her first senior game), Brooke Knight and Brooke McDougall and the girls tried all game.
Rennie also welcomed back Nat Harris after a two-year break!!
A special thank you to the girls who played 8 quarters of netball for the day what an amazing effort. The defence end were peppered the whole game and tried their hardest backed up by Maddy Phibbs.
Alexis Mitchell and Tiarnah Keely tried all game were both awarded best on court for their efforts. The club look forward to the next challenge.
Awards- Priority Fitness – Tiarnah Keely, Yarrawonga Hotel – Alexia Mitchell.
B grade
Katamatite 41 defeated Rennie 35.
The girls came out strong and worked hard to create a slow and steady flow. Each player had a role to do, and despite giving it their all, Katamatite just came out on top.
The Hoppers never dropped their heads and gave up on the come back, and this will be so important in coming games.
A few more team training sessions and the Rennie girls will continue to have great contests in the coming games.
A huge thank you to the 2 under 17s players who stepped up and filled in and a great effort by Hannah Shoppee and Scarlette York who debuted in their first senior games couldn’t have done it without you all.
Awards – Priority Fitness -Hannah Shoppee, Yarrawonga Hotel – Celine Collins-Bye.

Katamatite 23 defeated by Rennie 30.
Oh what a first game! The Hoppers came out strong with the defence absolutely smashing it with Cait and Anika.
The mid court worked a treat with great deliveries to the accurate shooters Laura, Jess and first time player Leonie.
Considering Gaelic football is Leonie’s sport, stepping onto a netball court in GS and shooting 5 goals is awesome, welcome to Rennie.
Mother daughter duo the Kerr’s were crucial in the mid court to the Hoppers 7 goal win.
Also Nada smashing out four quarters in C and kept running after taking a dive to the asphalt.
It was great to have Jae Jae back on the court after some time off, also racking up her 150th club game. Great work Jae.
Award winners - Yarrawonga Hotel – Caitlin Knuckey, Miss Dolly – Jess Westwood.
Under 17s
Katamatite 18 defeated by Rennie 59.
What an awesome first game back for the girls. The girls have been working hard at training to become a team and reconnect after a long break; and it payed off in the game.
Everyone had individual goals to work on, and together they were able to execute some beautiful plays and cover the court in strong defensive pressure.
Driving forward to the ball and keeping eyes up was a game changer in the first quarter.
Super proud of everyone’s efforts and to see where the rest of the season takes the Hoppers.
Award winners- Rhodes family - Sophie O’Dwyer, Redback Waste - Steph Munro.
Under 15s
Katamatite 5 defeated by Rennie 49.
The U15’s played a cracker of a game outclassing the opponents 49 to 5.
The Hoppers had many combinations to choose from with many girls being able to play multiple positions which is a great asset.
Rennie started strong with many interceptions from the defensive end of Helena Shaw, Coco Vodusek and Mia Elliott repelling the ball forward through the centre with Mia Wheaton, Georgia Phillips both very energetic and into the goalers Violet Elliott and Laynee Rhodes who were able to capitalise.
Changes were made at half time with Lucy Bassett and Abbey Shoppee replacing Mia Elliott and Violet Elliott.
All girls continued to work hard with eyes for the ball at every opportunity giving the attacking end many opportunities to score.
A fabulous team effort. Congratulations on a great start to the season.Award winners – Yarrawonga Fish & Chips - Mia Elliott outstanding in both GK and GS,Rhodes Family - Violet Elliott excellent game in GS and WA.
Under 13s
Katamatite 2 defeated Rennie 37.
First game of the year saw the little Hoppers eager to get out on the court and show everyone what they can do.
Sophie was a superstar in goals seeming to never miss no matter where she was. Demi showed everyone that no matter how small you are you can get every goal in with practice and determination.
Every girl on the court took intercepts and the defence seemed to ostrong for the opposition.
Steph and Leah both playing in the mid court were unstoppable in WD and were a key factor in the defence line.
The Rennie girls are off to a fantastic start to the year and can’t wait to pull that dress back on next week.
Award winners – Rhodes family -Steph Robinson, Yarrawonga Fish & Chips -Leah Pitcher.
U13s development.
It was some girls first official game of netball. The parents were astounded with how well every single player played.
You were calling and moving for the ball. Also, the defending down the court was great with hands up over the passes.
Thankyou to the Under 13 girls who filled in it was fantastic having you on the court helping the new players.
Awards: Rhodes family - Mia Brogan, Yarrawonga fish and chips -Hayley Robinson.
