They sit fourth on the ladder, but have two teams in Katamatite and Katunga breathing down their necks.
The former has the easier task this round against winless Tocumwal.
The Rhinos’ will play a two-day game at Cobram, starting tomorrow at 11.30am.
The reigning premiers have only lost one match this season, which was by 28 runs against the Rhinos in their one-day clash at Deni in October.
The Rhinos are fourth on the ladder with five wins and six losses, having not won any of their three two-day matches against Katunga, Katamatite and Nathalia, while also losing three one-day matches, twice to Barooga and once to Nathalia.
The Rhinos main challenge to retaining their fourth place spot is Katamatite.
Katty in sixth, sit less than a win behind Deni and have a chance to earn maximum points via an outright win against lowly Tocumwal.
Katunga in fifth are also one point behind the Rhinos on the ladder with the bye this weekend and will gain the average number of points collected by other teams in the round.
To make the finals, the Deni A-grade side must win against a formidable Cobram team and also hope Katamatite don’t overtake them by gaining a bigger win in their match against Tocumwal.
In a two-day rematch of last season’s A-grade grand final, the Rhinos will be out to give themselves a chance at a finals' miracle.
In B-grade, the Rhinos are too far back in sixth on the ladder to make finals.
They host Tungamah tomorrow at Memorial Park for a one-day match from 11.30am.
