Under 14 Mixed
The Under 14 Tigers headed south to Castlemaine on Sunday afternoon. Castlemaine were away first, kicking the first goal of the game, but Rochy were quick to respond with a goal of their own. Castlemaine were then 13 points up through kicking the next two goals, but Rochy finished the first quarter only 4 points down.
In the second, Castlemaine again put the first goal on the board, pushing the lead out to 10 points. Jag Tarrant was having a solid game in defence, as was Reno Mountjoy in the centre. Even though there was great running by Nate Macfarlane and Asher Rasmussen, the half-time score was not in Rochy’s favour - Castlemaine 51 to Rochester 31.
Despite Castlemaine being on top in the first half, Rochy played well as a team in the third quarter. A couple of quick goals by Declan Carmichael and Hugh Acocks put them on the comeback trail, holding Castlemaine goal less for the quarter and going into the final term with Rochy only down by 9 points.
In the final quarter, Rochy steamed home only conceding 2 points for the whole quarter. This was thanks to some great ball movement through the middle and strong marks taken by Mac Dickinson and Mason Mundie. Rochy got over the line for a great win!
And in a fantastic demonstration of sportsmanship, Jordan Peters donned the Magpies jumper to help the opposition, and managed to kick two goals against the Tigers!

Under 16 Boys
This week would prove to be the biggest test yet for the under 16s, travelling to Harry Trott to take on South Bendigo. An open forward line saw Rochy take advantage in the first quarter, moving the ball quickly through the middle of the ground to key forwards Morgan Boyack and Kade Pearse, who were able to get on the scoreboard early. This also played into the hands of small forward Jimmy Otto, also hitting the scoreboard early in the game.
Despite the strong start, the backline was under pressure in the second quarter, with fantastic efforts from Lachie Smith and Kaelan Connor, who at times were outnumbered but still managed to beat their opponents. The entire backline group were able to stop multiple scoring opportunities from South, allowing Rochy to maintain a lead into the main break.
Rotating ruckman Darcey Pump, Curtis Howard and Jack Brennan all got their hands to the ball at stoppages, again giving gun midfielders Darby Martin, Sam Seabrook, Tom Drust and Cale James first use to regularly apply scoreboard pressure. In a tight congested game, Rochy took their opportunities in front of goal, with the crafty Amon Riordan setting up multiple opportunities for his teammates. Rochy were able to open the game up late in quarters throughout the whole game, with run from Jackson Morgan and Mitch Munro regularly sending the ball inside forward 50. Rochy continually stood up when challenged throughout the whole game, putting another great team performance together.
