In the opening round of the season, on the back of an unbeaten 30 from captain Oliver Williams, the Rochester team beat Bamawm Lockington United with four wickets in hand.
At Tongala on Friday evening the work of Liam Edge and Jordy Rasmussen allowed the team to restrict Tongala to 68 runs as it was bowled out in 38.3 overs.
Edge finished with the numerically exact figures of 3-3 from 3.3 overs, removing both openers for no score with the first and fourth deliveries of his second over.
Rasmussen delivered four overs for a 3-1 return, setting the standard for a second successive round with another haul of three wickets. Against BLU in the opening round he took 3-11.
Tongala was 3-4 after four overs, then recovered thanks to the determined Benny Smith and Jessie Johnstone. Smith batted for 99 deliveries for his 23 and Johnstone managed 12.
Rochester’s Aidan Roulston provided support to the opening bowling duo, his four-over stint including two maidens and reaping figures of 2-5.
Rochester won the toss and bowled on the wide expanses of the Tongala Recreation Reserve. A 24-strong extras tally, including 16 wides and six no balls, allowed its opponent to a higher tally than it probably deserved.
