A sturdy pair of golf spikes and a warm beanie were essential to enjoy the day’s chilly conditions, which made the Nagambie golf course resemble a winter wonderland.

Ryan Ezard fired the best score, with 85-18-67 a tally typically seen during the drier and hotter months, but with a scorching putter in hand, Ezard needed only nine putts on the back nine. In addition, he stuck his approach to two feet on the 16th green for a tap-in birdie, his closing-nine 39 guaranteeing his victory.
Runner-up was Tim Baldwin, carding a 79-11-68. The mid-winter specialist, who thrives in tough conditions, lost out by one shot. Finishing top-three the second week in succession was the resurgent Greg Whiteman — a 92-20-72 suggesting a win be on the cards in coming events.
The nearest-the-pin prizes went to Michael Nolan, who rifled one up to the narrow green on the third; Jeremy Ezard, with a flashy stroke to reach the long par three eighth; Ben Cassar, not typically known for his finesse, expertly placed one on the 13th; and our day's winner, Ryan Ezard, putting the cherry on top of a good day at the 16th.
Next week’s golf will be a stableford event, with D. Brown on office duty and P. Lawrence in the bar.
