At the recent AGM, held on Saturday July 26, the YYC commodore Ken Cameron spoke of the clubs steady growth shown across all activities, contributing much of the clubs success to the willingness of the YYC’s Committees.
For many years, the committee have diversified to meet the needs of the community. Traditionally, a Sailing Club, the YYC now includes the popular Dragon Boat Paddling, Outrigger canoeing, Kayaking and the rapidly evolving Radio Controlled (RC) sailing.
Social activities are also offered during the warmer months, with Happy Hours held on Friday nights, showcasing local musicians and popular food vendors.
Following the AGM, the club presented a range of awards including the Sailing Skipper of the Year, awarded to Werner Oswald; Dragon Boat Paddler of the Year, presented to Peter James; and RC Sailor of the Year; presented to Frank Rettke.
Commodore Ken Cameron said there’s always something happening at the club.
“We’re a club for all ages, with over 200 members”, said Ken.
“We offer junior sailor training from October, sailing each Saturday.
“Dragon Boat Paddling is active all year round on a Saturday from 8:30am and RC Sailing is on every Wednesday from 11am.”
Newcomers are always welcomed across all YYC activities.
No gear required, just a willingness to give it a go.
Happy hours recommence when daylight savings return on Friday October 10 from 5pm till 8pm at 87 River Road, Yarrawonga.
