After a breakout campaign this season, Port Adelaide has secured Whitlock’s services until at least the end of 2032.
The 20-year-old has starred in 2026 with 19 goals, and has played all 18 games so far this season after playing his maiden four AFL matches at the end of last year’s Power campaign.
Whitlock was also nominated for the Rising Star award in round eight after his performance in the Showdown clash against cross-town rivals Adelaide.
Whitlock, a Bears export, expressed his enjoyment since moving interstate out of Shepparton in Port Adelaide’s announcement on Thursday.
“I’m so happy to have signed for Port Adelaide long-term,” Whitlock said.
“I’ve felt welcomed here since day one, and I’m loving my time at the club.
“To be given the opportunity to play at AFL level is such a privilege, and something I definitely don’t take for granted.
“I always want to learn more so I can improve my game and contribute to as much on-field success as possible.
“I really believe in this group and where we are going.”
Whitlock also spoke glowingly of his time at the Power on the News’ Media Fines podcast last month, and gave insight into how he has fast-tracked his development as a key forward.
“A lot of people do say keys take four or five years to really get settled but I think if you play to your strengths and learn the craft as quick as you can, you can fast track that development,” Whitlock said.
“Working really close with Mitch Georgiades and Jack Lukosius especially has been really big for my development.
“It’s shown you don’t necessarily have to put on ten kilos, you can work your way around things with your body movement and craft... and using my athleticism and marking as well, which has set me up to start the year relatively well.
“I keep coming in each week and competing, and if I can keep playing my role that will be good.”
