Now in its 12th year, the event attracted participants from across Victoria and New South Wales who came together to enjoy the game they love and make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
Their efforts delivered another outstanding result, with the tournament raising $5,000 more than last year and enabling donations of $19,800 each to Sunshine Trust and Southern Peninsula Community Support.
One of this year's beneficiaries, Sunshine Trust, plays a vital role in supporting cancer care across the region.
Funds raised through the Golf Classic help provide specialist medical equipment and resources, support professional development opportunities for healthcare staff, and assist local patients in accessing leading treatment options.
A record-breaking memorabilia silent auction and hole-in-one challenge boosted fundraising efforts and added to the excitement of the week.
Sunshine Trust Board Chair Brad Robertson said the Classic was a wonderful example of communities coming together to help people when they need it most.
“As chair of Sunshine Trust, I am incredibly grateful for the generous contribution, which will directly support better cancer care across our region,” Mr Robertson said.
“My sincere thanks to everyone who organised, sponsored and participated in another outstanding event.”
Beyond the fundraising achievements, participants enjoyed a week of activities on and off the course.
The program featured three days of golf, a welcome dinner, a wine tasting evening hosted by Buller Wines, sightseeing opportunities for non-golfers, and the popular presentation dinner.
The driving force behind the event, Patricia Randall, has been at the heart of its success since day one.
“This event has always been about bringing people together for a greater good,” she said.
“To see it grow and continue to give back, year after year, is truly rewarding.”
Co-organiser Dario Prighel said the tournament name reflects not only the beautiful weather but also the warmth and generosity of everyone involved.
“This fundraising event benefits everyone along the Murray River who needs the Cancer Centre,” Dario said.
“Including the Trust Fund as a beneficiary was an easy decision.”
Planning is already underway for the next Sunshine Charity Golf Classic, which will be held from May 30 to June 3, 2027.
