You’ll be able to spot participants proudly wearing their distinctive yellow t-shirts as they walk to support a vital local cause.
The event is the major annual fundraiser for the Albury Wodonga Regional Cancer Centre Trust Fund, with all money raised staying local to help families across our region affected by cancer.
While the main Sunshine Walk will take place in Albury on the same day, residents of Corowa, Wahgunyah, Rutherglen and surrounding districts are invited to join in as part of the Corowa and District team.
Local walks will start and finish at Corowa Rowers Park this Sunday, with three distances to choose from.

“Participants will be walking along the beautiful river paths we have in both Wahgunyah and Corowa,” said committee member Casandra Hughes.
“The course will be clearly marked, so there’s no chance of getting lost.”
Last year, the Corowa and District team had 72 walkers and raised over $9,000. “Team Corowa and District is currently in second place on the Teams Leaderboard — let’s see if we can take first place this year!” Ms Hughes added.
For long-time participant Marika Partridge, this year marks her seventh Sunshine Walk. Having covered a total of 100 km across the past six events, she has earned a place on the newly created Sunshine Walk Honour Roll.
“When I first moved here from a capital city, I was shocked to learn that some people had to travel more than three hours each way to Melbourne for cancer treatment,” Ms Partridge said.
“Regional people deserve the same quality of care as those in cities.
“I’m so grateful that we now have a local Cancer Centre, and that’s why I continue to fundraise and walk every year.
“We all know someone, a family member, friend or colleague, who has received treatment there. The funds from the Sunshine Walk stay local, helping ensure people can get the care they need close to home and family.”
Team Corowa will also be selling raffle tickets outside Gyles Newsagency on Saturday, November 8, with great prizes on offer. It’s a chance to buy a ticket, make a donation, or register for the walk. All proceeds go towards vital cancer services, including equipment, research, staff training, and patient support.
The Sunshine Walk isn’t a race — it’s about coming together as a community to enjoy the day, have fun, and support a wonderful cause.
