The Tigers were put on the back foot early, as the Swans flew out of the gate, scoring five goals in the opening two minutes.
Unfortunately for Rochester, it could not claim a lead at any point but remained within striking distance for much of the contest.
The Tigers managed to rein in the high-flying Swans, reducing their quarter-time lead to five.
Much of Shepparton’s scoring came in bunches, with Rochester unable to stop the goal clusters, which grew the Swans’ lead, particularly approaching half-time.
In the last six minutes of the first half, the Swans piled on 13 goals, with Rochester managing to muster only three in reply.
The Tigers came to play in the third term, scoring more freely than before, going goal for goal with the Swans for much of the quarter, outscoring Shepparton by two goals, yet it wasn’t enough to make serious inroads.
While Rochester put in its best effort and fought with the Swans throughout the final term, it wasn’t enough to dig its way out of the second-quarter hole, and the Tigers lost the game 52-71.
The Tigers will have the opportunity to bounce back in round 12 and sink their teeth into a Kyabram side that has only one win under its belt for 2024.
