B Grade
Moama 68 defeated Tungamah 11
Moama came out strong but Brodie and Jorja’s pressure in defence was strong as always, making Moama work for every goal.
The mid court worked hard the entire game, creating some strong leads and glimpses of fast give and goes resulting in some quick goals.
The Tungamah goalies worked hard all day with Felicity Thomas getting support from Sarah Cummins and Chloe Laffin stepping up from Under 17s.
Considering the wet weather and strong winds the Bears never gave up.
Awards: Judd’s sports – Amy Griffith, Brewit – Brodie Gissing.
C Grade
Moama 52 defeated Tungamah 13
Very cold conditions greeted the team on the court at Moama.
The girls started well against a good opposition. The Moama shooters were very accurate but Kait and Amber made the most of their rebound opportunities.
Brooke, Bridget and Tayla worked hard in the mid court.
Olivia and Kylie were always moving in the ring.
Danielle showed her versatility by playing four different positions across the court.
The bounce passes were working to Tungamah’s advantage and the players are putting into play the things they are working on at training.
Big thanks again to Tayla Crothers for playing with the C Grade from Under 15s.
Awards: Cellarbrations – Brooke Keenan, Brewit – Olivia Hayes.
C Reserve
Moama 46 defeated Tungamah 9
What a day for netball, the girls were reminded that they signed up for a winter sport with Moama delivering the winter weather, freezing cold and pouring rain.
All teams short on players saw Kylie jump into shooter.
She did a fantastic job despite the weather, thanks Kylie for helping.
Danielle excited to try something different and have a bit of fun stepped up to play goal shooter, if she got the ball within the circle she was going for it, took a few shots to get there but with the support of her team mates Dan shot her first goal and the team could not be prouder.
Sally earned her award for breaking out the YMCA while defending the ball, a new secret play in defence.
Kim not wet enough thought she’d lay in a puddle. Sally and Kim got every rebound from the opposition’s missed shots, they work so well together.
Vanessa starring wherever she was thrown even stepped up for a quarter of centre, her quick pace had her all over the court and always an option, getting an intercept and a few taps.
Everyone did well to keep stepping to a minimum with the wet courts, while still going hard for the ball, being a backup for when the ball slipped out of our hands and fighting for a dropped ball.
Awards: Byramine Homestead and Brewery – Sally Eales, Thyme for coffee café – Kim Walkering.
Under 17s
Moama 34 defeated Tungamah 6
This week while 5 teammates were enjoying holidays in the sunshine the Under 17s were faced with very wet conditions in Moama.
The girls fought it out all day and battled hard through the rain.
Moama’s shooters played great all day, but the defenders didn’t let them have it easy making them work for every shot.
The pressure down court was great to see and continued all game.
The shooters moved well in the ring with very active defenders by their side.
Bring on next week and hopefully the 17s can get another win on the board.
Special mention to the U15 girls who stepped up this week to help out. Greatly appreciated.
Awards: Wingates – Penny Thomson, Subway – Chloe Charmstrom, McDonalds – Jade Ralph.
Under 15s
Moama 25 defeated Tungamah 15
In cold and wet conditions, the girls knew it would be even harder coming up against Moama.
With a goal of focusing on the positives it was great to see amazing defensive pressure applied to every single ball, lots of team encouragement and talk as well as persistence in the miserable conditions.
The defenders worked tirelessly the whole game continuing to get plenty of taps.
Midcourters took care of the ball coming down enabling the goalers to convert.
The girls as a whole adjusted well to new combinations and positions.
Standouts for the day were Emmi and Jade defensively working well together and individually, Bella B continuing to go for every ball and Emma with her nonstop talk and encouragement.
Awards: Fish and chip shop – Emmi Brooks, Papalia’s pizza – Bella Bridgeman, Subway – Jade Ralph, McDonalds – Emma Richmond.
Under 13s
Moama 27 defeated Tungamah 7
In pouring rain conditions and lots of girls away the Under 13s worked hard to not let the mercy rule come into effect this week.
That was accomplished. Tamika’s determination and good spirit got her hands to many balls unsettling Moama’s play at times.
Mykie showed how much she is improving with lots of pressure and turned plays.
Unfortunately, bad conditions did slow the Bears down with added inaccurate deliveries, but the girls had a ball trying new positions and working on their skills.
Thanks to Shylee for stepping up, she came on showing that she is capable to run the centre with nice control and speed and of course a big smile.
Awards: McDonalds – Tamika, Crusty Loaf – Mykie, Videoland - Shylee.
Under 11s
Moama 11 defeated by Tungamah 12
The mini Bears were so happy to finally play a game of netball in the rain, the spectators not so much. The team were a little depleted which enabled Charli C and Kiera B to take the court for the first time as mini Bears and both girls played so well in the midcourt, running out for C passes and providing options up and down the court.
The defence super team of Emily B, Elli and Molly were unstoppable and made it very hard for Moama to score goals.
Maddie and Alani work so well together in the attack ring, they have ‘splitting the ring’ down to a fine art and Shylee’s sight and speed to get the ball into the ring allows the shooters to score.
It was a great team effort in very slippery conditions.
Awards: Subway – Emily B, McDonalds – Charli C, Crusty Loaf – Kiera B.
