Tungamah netball

A slow start saw Rennie put on a few goals before Tungamah settled and took the lead at quarter time.

The team kept the momentum in the second quarter, utilising subs to have fresh legs take the court for some extra run.

A three goal lead at the main break and it was still anyone’s game.

The defensive end in Sarah, Chelsea, Maddi and Eliza worked hard all game for intercepts and built pressure across the four quarters.

In attack Chloe, Madi and Kiera withstood Rennie’s pressure and played their role converting their goals, fighting for rebounds and defending hard in transition.

The mids ran hard all day, utilising rotations for fresh legs; Adelle, Bern, Amy and Claudia provided strong drives, options around the ring and applied pressure when the ball was turned over.

A solid second half and composure across the court saw intercepts turn into goals.

Momentum went both ways and the Bears knew they had to kept pushing and not let Rennie play on their own terms.

It was a great team win with everyone playing their role on and off the court.

A huge thanks to Claire for being on our bench and to Jenny, Leanne and Lauren for keeping us composed and the bench in control and Dan and Sally for scoring and timing.

On to the preliminary final they go.

Tungamah 29 def by Barooga 32

In what was set to be a tough game the girls took to the court knowing they had a battle ahead of them but were full of confidence and motivation, not wanting their season to end yet.

The girls came out hard and fast, applying defensive pressure right across the court and moving the ball swiftly to the attacking end, resulting in some great shooting and movement in the goal ring.

The girls didn’t come away with the win, but they should be very proud of how far they have come this season and can hold their heads high.

They showed great teamwork and sportsmanship and have done their club proud.

Well done girls; not the finish they wanted, but they did well to go this far.

Under 17's

Tungamah 45 def Tocumwal 40

On a glorious sunny day, with spring certainly in the air, Tungamah came away with a hard-fought victory over Tocumwal in a fantastic contest.

The first quarter saw the girls playing as one and producing the style of netball they have worked so hard on throughout the season; their pressure, movement and teamwork saw them finish the quarter with a six-goal lead.

Some positional changes were made throughout the second and third quarters, with the girls adapting well and continuing to hold onto a narrow lead.

Both teams fought hard, with tough contests across the court making for a highly competitive game.

The final quarter brought plenty of excitement, with Tungamah losing the lead early.

To the girls’ credit, they held their heads high, kept their composure and continued to fight.

Their determination and belief paid off as they worked their way back into the lead and secured a well-deserved win.

It’s now time to regroup at training this week, take the learnings from the game and prepare for the preliminary final on Saturday.

Well done, girls; your coaching group and parents are incredibly proud of the way you continue to show determination, resilience and teamwork on the court.
