The Yarrawonga boys had a fresh side for the first quarter, with bottom-age players filling all the key positions.
Lawson Kelly got the ball moving out of the ruck and took marks around the ground. Judd long was in and under all quarter and Elliot Tresize and Finnin George blocked all St Patricks’ attacks forward.
After an even first term, Yarrawonga started to run the ball with Harlem Doric breaking the lines with speed and dash. Raffa Leary caught fire in the second term, marking everything and kicking two goals. Jack Bruce’s intercept marking at halfback was excellent while Ryder Briffa kicked a mercurial snap from the pocket heading into half-time.
Darby Bigger started the third quarter with two great goals. The forward line was applying pressure with great tackling, and was rewarded with a Roley Brear snapped goal.
Dane Bromley was in everything at half-forward, with great skills, while Benji Wollington showed class in the forward line late in the game.
With Yarrawonga well in front, the team kept doing the hard things including a great run-down tackle from Harlem Doric.
An excellent team performance from the Young Pigeons.
