Severely undermanned with many regular seniors injured, the Hoppers had a crack all day but came up 42 points short against Deni Rovers in Deniliquin.
Each term was close but it was the locals with some extra finesse in their forward line which was the difference.
Magro and Haley kicked 2 each for Rennie who were best served by Tom Kennedy, ably assisted by the juniors Hogan, Cope, Bassett, D’Oleveira and Ben Kennedy who are standing up each week as the injury toll grows.

1 Tom Kennedy, 2 Ollie Cope, 3 Ben Kennedy and 4 Harry Hogan.
Reserves
Deni Rovers 11.8.74 defeated Rennie 3.3.21.
It was a tough day on the track, as the Hoppers headed to Deni to face the Rovers.
The undermanned 2’s ran out and gave it 110%. Kayne Hughes and Alex Donovan were damaging in defence.
Ben James and Beau Hornidge continued their good form in the mid-field, pushing the team to give it their all.
With few inside 50‘s, the forwards Ryan Trinder-James and Mitch Denny applied as much pressure as they could.
A huge thanks to the thirds kids, Dom Mclnness, Noah Clark and Rudi Vodusek, who helped out again.
The Reserves weren’t able to get the win but the club hope to change that as the Hoppers head to Katamatite next week.

Thirds
Deni Rovers 7.10.52 defeated Rennie 6.6.42.
The Rennie Thirds started well with three quick goals in the first quarter. The boys were up and about and the ball movement was good on the huge Deni ground as the boys worked hard to score.
The highlight being the monster mark and goal for Vodusek. The momentum for Rennie continued into the second quarter as the backline boys of Herrod, Kelly, Bassett and Tanner managed to keep Deni to one goal.
However, a late scuffle in this quarter seemed to unsettle the Hoppers.
Deni came out confident after halftime and managed to slow the scoring opportunities.
This was the quarter the thirds lost the game as the Hoppers failed to hit targets with their kicking.
Deni were harder to the ball and seemed to be quicker as well, as Rennie only managed one point for the quarter.
After a rev up from Founto the boys again lifted their momentum however it wasn’t enough to finish on top.
It was a good lesson in the importance of a four-quarter effort and the importance of holding tackles, shepherding and playing as a team.
Once again VanMaanen rucked hard all day and Slattery, DeOleveira, Hogan and C. Lonergan worked the ball well.
Good to see McInness back for his first game after breaking his leg. Let’s all get to training this week and work on playing as a team.
Goals: R. Vodusek 2, H. Lonergan, C. deOleveira, H. Hogan, L. Slattery.

Fourths
Deni Rovers 23.16.154 defeated Rennie 1.0.6
Another tough day on the track for the undermanned Hopper 4ths. An early goal by Aiden lifted the spirits of the kids but unfortunately it wasn’t going to be their day, but once again the mosquito squad gave it their all.
Their efforts with tackling and defensive play were outstanding and showed a determination beyond their years.
Great effort in defending the goal line and sticking to his man earned Nixon a best on ground award.
And the consistency of the Strawhorn Twins Connor and Blair kept the Hoppers heads held high.
Looking forward to a great game against Katty next week.
Goals: A. Lawless.

Under 11s
A later game this week made the travel to Deni Rovers ground a little easier to handle, with the lovely sunshine showing itself by the time the under 11’s took the field.
The kids enjoyed their first game with a full-sized ground experience. With an open space they were kicking long running hard all game.
It was a very evenly matched game and with Deni having heaps of kids there were a few who donned a Hoppers jumper to make sure everyone got to have a run.
As usual the effort of these young kids is amazing to watch and their positivity and encouragement of their teammates is something all teams should aspire to.
With the youngest Hoppers singing the song at the end of the game it was definitely worth the trip.
Awards: RedAg- Aiden Lawless, Biggers Floorworld- Charlie Bourke, Eternal Paws- Nash Ryan and Border Concrete Plumbing - Taylor Lewis.
Off to Katamatite to take on the Tigers this weekend then hope to see you all at the Mulwala Water Ski Club for awards. Also keep Saturday, June 18 free for the IPOD shuffle night.
