Wangaratta Winter Sports Day

The Sacred Heart Primary mixed soccer team who competed at the Wangaratta Winter Sports Day recently.

Sacred Heart Primary had three teams enter the Wangaratta Winter Sports Day in soccer, netball and football.

The teams were a mix of Year 5 and Year 6 students. It was a divisional competition from schools across the district with the winners in each sport going through to the regional stage early next term.

Sacred Heart’s mixed soccer side coached by Andrew Brew and Miss Schutt won 3 games and drew one to finish in 3rd place for the day.

The football team coached by Travis Smith won four games out of six. They too finished in 3rd place.

The netball side led by Mrs Wollington and Georgia Lawless made it all the way to the final but went down in a close one. A top effort by the girls to finish runners up.

All students are to be commended on being top sports throughout the day with some schools acknowledging their respect for others and playing in the right spirit.

Sacred Heart Primary thank Mrs Carolyn Willett and her band of helpers for making the carnival a successful one and the families who were able to travel across and support the students.
