This is a fantastic achievement by a small country association, with well-deserved recognition of the hard work, dedication, and positive impact YMBA has on participants and the wider community.
The announcement was made on the Ford Aussie Hoops national media channels last week, with Basketball Australia praising YMBA’s Program.
Basketball Australia praised the program that comes from such a small regional community.
“Yarrawonga Mulwala Basketball Association continues to achieve outstanding participation numbers within Ford Aussie Hoops and is a fantastic example of a country association punching well above its weight,” Basketball Ball Australia said on its media page.
“Through the hard work of their volunteers, coaches, and wider basketball community, they have built a program that is fun, engaging, and welcoming for participants of all abilities.
“Their strong local support and commitment to creating a positive experience each week has helped foster a genuine love of basketball among young participants in the region.
“The association’s continued growth and strong community connection highlight the important role regional basketball associations play in growing the game across Australia.
“Congratulations to Yarrawonga Mulwala Basketball Association on this well-deserved recognition and for the fantastic work they continue to do within their community.”
YMBA’s Aussie Hoops Head Coach Amanda Wheaton is thrilled with the award.
“It’s amazing to be recognised at a National level and reflects the high-quality Program that we run at for our beginners,” MS Wheaton said.
“It’s such a pleasure to be a part of a child’s first basketball experience, setting them up to enjoy playing basketball for many years to come.
“With the help of our fantastic junior coaches Sienna Blick and Indy Burnett and support from our local sponsor, Yarrawonga Ford, we make the sessions fun and engaging and that’s what makes it a great Program.”
This selection now puts YMBA in the running for the Australian Ford Aussie Hoops Centre of the Year award, which will be awarded at the end of this year.
