The meet attracted more than 250 swimmers from across the Victorian–New South Wales border, with Yarrawonga Mulwala Swimming Club proudly represented by 27 swimmers, including many of their junior athletes.
With a team made up predominantly of younger swimmers, some competing for the first time since December, the meet provided a valuable opportunity to put months of summer training into practice.
The results reflected that work, with personal best times recorded by most of the team, including several outstanding performances from our juniors.
Among the highlights, Isla Robertson took 3.66 seconds off her 100m Breaststroke and 1.67 seconds off her 100m Freestyle.
Matilda Courtney produced impressive improvements, cutting 5.06 seconds from her 50m Backstroke and 4.48 seconds from her 50m Freestyle.
Yarrawonga Mulwala Swimming Club was represented by 27 swimmers in Corowa for the Ovens & Murray District Pennant.
Livai Bainikoro achieved two personal bests, shaving time off in his 50m Freestyle and 50m Backstroke.
Alex Bridgeman delivered one of the biggest time drops of the day, taking 8.15 seconds off her 100m Breaststroke.
Well done also to Billie Archibald, who swam three personal bests across her events and achieved qualifying times for next year’s Country Championships, a fantastic achievement and a great reward on a huge summer of training.
The Ovens and Murray Pennant series continues to provide an important development pathway for regional swimmers, and this meet showcased the depth emerging within the club’s junior ranks.
Congratulations to all swimmers on a fantastic day of racing.
The club sends thanks their coaches and parent volunteers for their ongoing support.
A special thank you to Corowa Sharks Swimming Club and the officials who made the day possible.
