The Mathoura Speed Shear is marking its 10th anniversary on Saturday, October 31, 2026, at the Mathoura Recreation Reserve, Morris St, Mathoura.
Shearing kicks off at noon, with registrations open from 9.30am.
Organiser Anna Robinson is expecting a strong turnout.
“I reckon we get between 80 to 90 shearers entering on the day,” she said.
“It is a good day, a big day.”
Categories include fastest shear of the day, open, seniors and intermediate, open to both men and women.
The Trans-Tasman challenge, Kiwis versus Aussies, also returns this year.
Local community groups benefit from the event through bar, canteen and gate proceeds, with kids' activities including kite flying.

Stone Cold Fundraiser
Tickets are on sale for Stone Cold, an outdoor concert fundraiser at Mathoura Bowling Club on Saturday, November 28, featuring three live acts and six hours of continuous music.
Mathoura Bowling Club manager Adam Parker said the event was inspired by a personal loss.
“My brother-in-law, who was only 49, passed away from a glioblastoma tumour in January this year and left behind my sister and their two children,” he said.
“One of the reasons we chose to do this event was because I don't think there is enough awareness, and probably enough money going towards brain cancer and tumours.”
The event will raise funds for Carrie's Beanies 4 Brain Cancer, with $5 from every ticket donated to the cause, alongside collection tins at the gate.
Headline act Soul Chisel will perform Cold Chisel and Jimmy Barnes classics, supported by solo guitarist Kane Vincent and local Echuca band Stumbling North.
