ClubMulwala Outdoor Bowls

Another week in paradise, what a wonderful run of weather the area is having.

Speaking with President Dodi who is on the Gold Coast for the Australian Championships, he said they played in four inches of water the first week, no such problems here.

As there was no report from the club last week a double dose of results has been included in this report.

Mid-week social results;

Tuesday, June 6: winners Paul Carlyle/Bev Norwood; runners up John Thurling/Paul Talbot; the jackpot did not go off.

Wednesday, June 17: winners Joye Bruce, Barry Pitt, Jan Morton; runners up on a countback Loris Lochhead, Betty Starkey, Elmer Old; the jackpot did not go off.

Sunday 2-4-2 results;

Sunday, June 11: winners John Thurling/Siggi Rempel; no second prize; the jackpot did not go off.

Sunday, June 18: winners Eugene Hodson/Norm Elford; runners up on a countback Stuart and Jenny Sutterby; the jackpot was won by Barry Sartori and D Makin.

Congratulations to all players.

Remember Social Bowls for the winter Midweek 12.30 on Tuesday (names in by 11am on the day), Sunday 2-4-2 at 12.30 (names in by 11am on the day).

News from the Australian Open, Garry Sanders made it to the final 64 in the singles and Claire Sanders and Anne Miles progressed to the second round of the singles but that was as far as they got.

Anne and Claire failed to qualify for the pairs, but new recruit Laureen Smith made the final 64 in the ladies singles.

Anne and Claire are through to the second round of the ladies fours.

With 20 bowlers enjoying Wednesday pairs winners were Peter Velardo and John McGough with the runners-up being new recruit Darryl Dighton and Evan James. Jackpot failed to go off.

Friday bowls had 20 bowlers with Ray Brown and John Snowden winning the money. Runners-up were Ian Cumming and a visitor from Geelong Mal Currnow. Jackpot failed to go off.

A team of Graeme Whinray, Ray Brown, Keith Eade and Peter Lidgerwood went to Urana for the Bernie Hemphill day. With great weather and good company the boys won their 3 games and finished second, going down by just 1point.

Yarrawonga Bowls Club

Once again we have had a good weather for bowling with no rain on the horizon.

Gladstone Park are coming up again to play, so the club is putting on a casserole lunch for them on Saturday, July 1.

Any bowlers who wish to attend the lunch and enjoy a great social game of bowls after the sheet can be found in the clubrooms.

The results of games played this week are; Monday, June 12 Nominated Pairs 2-4-2, 20 teams, winners were R and W Lockwood and the runners-up were Doug Chamberlain and Eric Holder. The jackpot went off to James Murdoch and Richard Albert.

Wednesday, June 14, 30 players enjoyed a great game of bowls.

The winners were Richard Albert, Allan Horsburg (Canberra) and Ivan Bordignon, the runners-up were Keith Allender, Teddy Edwards and Elaine Horsburgh (Canberra).

The jackpot was not claimed on the day so it has carried over until Wednesday, June 21.

On Saturday, June 17, 24 played a social game of Jackpot Triples and the winners were Ron Phillips, Stuart Davey and Rodger McKenzie.

The runners-up were J. Curnow, Neville Marsden and Keith McQualter. The jackpot did not go off so will carry over until next Saturday.

Next week’s games; Wednesday, June 21 Jackpot Triples, Saturday, June 24 Social game and Monday, June 26 Nominated Pairs 2-4-2.

All games start at 12:30pm and entry for these games close at 11am on the day of the game. So, if you are looking for a game on any of these days come along and join in.

ClubMulwala Indoor Bowls

Social bowls; Monday, June 5 the only 2 game winner was Ian Holmes (s), Barb Eberle, Ellen Buckley and Chris Liberg with 34 points.

Second with a score of 21 were Noel Owen (s), Anne Mc Kain, Judi Cummins and Joan Wilson. With a score of 20 John Ellis (s), Val Bryce and Dot Shanks came third.

On Monday, June 12 Wilf Owen (s), Kay Ellis and Sue Stillard with 2 wins and a score of 32 came first.

Jeanette Davies (s), Frank Liberg and Marie Rich with a score of 23 came second.

Thursday, June 15 saw Barb Eberle (s), Ellen Buckley, Chris Illingworth and Monica O'Callaghan win with a score 31 points.

Second with 20 points were Lyn Ryan (s), Frank Liberg, Betty Blick and Pat harper.

Pennant - unfortunately none of the club teams had a win in the last round but the club still has one team in the final four.

Mulwala 1 (Fay) lost 9 / 33 to Wodonga 1 (Marj Mitsch ) at Wodonga while Mulwala 2 (Glenyce ) lost 16 / 35 to Fran Elliot at SS&A. Also at SS&A Mulwala 3 (Noel ) lost to SS&A 2 (Wayne Perrett).

On June 22 at Corowa SS&A 2 (Wayne Perrett) will play Wodonga 2 ( Marj Mitsch ) while SSS&A 1 (Fran Elliot) will play Mulwala 3 (Noel Owen ).

There will be some great bowling so come and watch and cheer the team on.
