And there were also injury concerns for captain Glenn Maxwell after a 103-run loss to begin the Big Bash League season.
The Stars were thumped by the Brisbane Heat at the Gabba on Thursday night.
Maxwell lived to regret the decision to send the hosts in when opener Colin Munro batted through the innings to hit an unbeaten 99 as the Heat finished 3-214.
The Stars crumbled in response making just 111 after being reduced to 5-54 in the eighth over.
It was the Heat's biggest winning margin in the tournament's 13-season history.
Fast bowler Coulter-Nile required a runner when he came out to bat at No.11 and will have scans on a suspected calf strain once the side returns to Melbourne on Friday.
World Cup hero Maxwell also finished with ice on his forearm although the Stars are not too worried about the health of arguably the BBL's most devastating batter.

"Biggest forearms in the world and he's pulled a muscle," teammate Hilton Cartwright scoffed at Maxwell.
"He's had a nice break, came back super positive and he's still super positive (after the loss).
"On a night like tonight you've got to keep reminding yourself you're not a bad team."
The Stars play the Scorchers on Wednesday but then don't play again until the following Saturday when they host the Sydney Thunder on December 23.
"Unfortunately he's got a history of calves," Cartwright said of Coulter-Nile.
"Hoping it's just the one game and he'll be back after that."
