The Kaarmona stud set a new Australian cow sale record last week, with a Jersey selling for $54,000.

The standout animal, Kaarmona Bosa Buoy 15, set the new national benchmark during the second day of the Kaarmona Holstein and Jersey Complete Dispersal Sale in Kaarimba on Friday, May 8.
The elite young cow attracted intense competition before being secured by Araluen Park Jerseys of Shady Creek in Gippsland.

The record price reflects strong confidence in high-end dairy genetics, with Bosa Buoy 15 backed by generations of leading sires and a proven maternal line tracing back to the influential US cow Foundation Sooner Buoy.
The sale drew a large on-farm crowd alongside strong online bidding, highlighting widespread interest from buyers across Australia as the Sprunt family dispersed their renowned herd.

Rohan and Graeme Sprunt had been running the stud together for 32 years, but said that the time had come for them to hang up their boots.
Auctioneer Brian Leslie said that the stud had made a “tremendous contribution to the dairy industry” and that the sale was a “once in a lifetime opportunity”.
The Kaarmona stud remains the only herd in Australia to achieve Master Breeder status in both Holstein and Jersey cattle.
Other standout results reinforced the depth of demand, including $40,000 for Kaarmona Invincible Babe 323 and $33,000 for Kaarmona Sturgis Tulip 18, with numerous cows achieving five-figure prices.
Overall, the two-day sale grossed more than $1.65 million, with sales averaging $4940 and some families, such as the popular “Babe” line, showing particularly strong buyer interest.
