Currently there are 126 volunteers in the Yarrawonga Mulwala Meals on Wheels program with over 6849 meals delivered to 93 clients this year.
Across the whole Moira Shire around 25,000 meals have been delivered to around 300 clients.
“It’s very rewarding,” said the ladies of Innerwheel.
“Sometimes we might be the only people they get to speak to a day so to be there for somebody and just give a bit of your time is well worth it.
“To have that community connection as well is fantastic.”
MHA Care CEO Michael Hogan said the meals on wheels program and the numbers of volunteers who put their hand up to help, always highlights the strong community spirit in Yarrawonga.
“We would like to recognise the valuable service and congratulate the volunteers on the wonderful work they do, not just for the people requiring Meals on Wheels but in their assistance to us as well in delivering the meals,” Mr Hogan said.
“Without these wonderful group of people putting their hands up to assist both us and those in need in the town, we would not be able to run this service so we could not be more appreciative.
“It’s more than just a meal, we nourish, care and help strengthen communities.
“We would also like to thank ClubMulwala, Peter and his catering team for their continued support of MHA Care and our wonderful team of Meals on Wheels volunteers by providing the luncheon year in year out.
“We are always looking for more volunteers.”
