This team has a number of first year players who are developing beautifully as the year progresses.

A special mention goes to Doug Chessum and his team of champs including Daryl Richmond, Jan Corboy and first year, first competition gamer Brian Pearson for scoring an ‘8’ on the last end.

A mighty achievement as many bowlers play their whole career without doing so.

An ‘8’ badge will be presented to the team at a later date and they are sure to wear it with pride. Congratulations.

Midweek Pennant had the A1’s travel to Corowa Civic and they came away winning 13/67 to 1/48. With the green tough to concur, all players found it hard for consistency.

Anne Miles rink won 25 to 14; they jumped out to an early lead and were always in control. Claire Sanders had a battle all day but powered away to win 23/15 (good all-round team effort).

Greg Green rink never looked at ease all day, but they hung in to ground out a draw 19/19.

This puts them second on the ladder 1 point behind Wodonga, next week game is against Yarra at Yarra (big game).

A2’s played St James at home and won 10/68 to 4/64. Allan Goudge rink was outstanding winning 26/10, his score covered Ian Price who lost 17/28.

Garry Hart had a great game and just lost 25/26. They are currently 3rd on the ladder only 4 points behind the top 2 teams which they play in the next 2 weeks, this will indicate where they stand in the competition.

Bob Liddell rink set up the win with a score off 31/11 and well supported by Doddy”s rink who won 20/16.

The all-girl rink lead by Marie Whitehead had a tight battle just losing 19/22. They are putting themselves into a strong position and currently sit 3rd on the ladder with their only loss was to top of the table Kiewa who they played away in the first game; next week they play 2nd side Benalla.

Jim LeFevre rink got a 4 on the first end and they never looked back winning 31/10.

Michael Szabo rink started off slowly and was 10/10, but once they got their nose in front went on to record a great win 33/13.

Anne Miles rink was always in control and won 26/18, with Miles playing some wonderful conversion shots during the day.

Ray Irvine battled all day and won 21/15’ this now puts YMGCR on top off the ladder and they play a critical match against Corowa RSL at Corowa.

Ian Price with a whole new rink won 23/15, Kerry Kinnane got up to win 18/17 and Neil Loveridge drew 17/17 Siggi Rempal rink, having a bad day losing 9/29.

To get that close to a top team on their home track was a good effort and a win is not too far away. A4’s played Wodonga away and lost 2/58 to 16/98, Ian Morffew rink just keeps on rolling along to win again 25/12 (they have not been beaten this season and are the most successful rink in the A4’s).
