Cast a line, master the basics, and snag your next big catch alongside the fly guys (and girls) at Kyabram Anglers Club.
The club is hosting its annual Come and Try Fishing Day, giving families and beginners the perfect excuse to swap screen time for sunshine on Sunday, October 25.
Club treasurer John Martin said members will assist with gear set-up, knot-tying, baiting and basic fishing techniques, with all bait and fishing gear provided for use on the day.
Beyond catching a bite, attendees will learn the ropes of fish identification, catch and release practices and the responsible disposal of noxious fish.
Children will take home an information bag packed with fishing gear to kickstart their new hobby.
To top off the morning outdoors, the club will serve a free barbecue lunch and drinks.
The event will take place at Kyabram Main Channel on the corner of McEwen and Grey roads from 9am to noon. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
