Police patrols have been out in force, and it isn’t just at peak weekend and holiday times.
Police are determined to reduce road trauma and make the roads safer so you can expect to encounter them when you least expect to.
Preliminary testing sites (PTS), or RBT in the old language, have intercepted multiple drivers charged with drink and/or drug driving and set a date with the magistrate.
On Tuesday, October 21, a man failed to stop at the PTS - not a good decision.
He was intercepted shortly after and given a roadside test, then taken to Yarrawonga Police Station for further testing where he blew a dangerously high 0.202, or four times over the legal limit.
He was charged with drink driving, unlicensed driving and failing to stop at a PTS.
The man is off to visit the magistrate later this year and unlikely to be offered coffee and cake on arrival.
Three days later, Yarrawonga, Tungamah uniform and Cobram Highway Patrol set up a PTS on Friday afternoon.
Within 40 mnutes they had busted a 34-year-old Yarrawonga man with drug driving and two NSW drivers for drink driving.
The message is Don’t Risk It!
Victoria Police are out in force, every day and night and if they find you are putting your own and others’ lives at risk, you too will be off to court.
Road safety is up to all of us to do the right thing.
