Club President Matt Holgate admitted that all areas were under the microscope as the club started on its quest to become a point of destination to dine out along the Murray River.
“We have the view, the location and the space so we wanted to know how we could be the best,” Matt said.
“We engaged Future Foods to provide a comprehensive overview of our food and beverage operations based on member’s feedback.
“Future Foods has built a reputation for pushing boundaries with food and beverage from a retail, design, service, and menu perspective and will make recommendations to enhance our food and beverage offering.”
To enhance its appeal the club has almost completed a major refurbishment of furniture, fixtures and décor in the main lounge on top of an extension of the Malibu Deck while also constructing a new playground.
Fast forward to this week and their quest will take its first major step when a new restaurant, Waterside Pizza, Past and Grill, opens its doors to the public.
The Waterside, Pizza, Pasta & Grill
“We are aiming to offer a new customer focused experience celebrating fresh, local food and wine”
That was the key mission from the owner of the Mulwala Water Ski Club’s new restaurant leasehold Jordan Rosmulder.
“Waterside will bring an upmarket club dining experience complementing the club’s fantastic location and view over Lake Mulwala,” Jordan said.
With 25 years experience in the hospitality industry and a qualified chef by trade, Jordan boasts owning and managing several successful restaurants including the Naked Tree in Yarrawonga, and Footsteps at Cofield Wines, Wahgunyah.
Jordan is no stranger to the club industry either, successfully running restaurants at the Shepparton Club and the Tura Beach Country Club on the Sapphire Coast.
“I started my apprenticeship at ClubMulwala but as time went on, I ended up running my restaurants, something I take pride in.”
Waterside will offer a variety of dishes from the pizza to pasta and the grill, focused on fresh food and of course customer service.
“We will be sourcing our food from local suppliers and our wine menu will feature localised wines to match,” Jordan said.
“I will be here full time in the restaurant, it’s an exciting time and I can’t wait to get started,” he said.
Waterside will also offer takeaway and delivery service via a new app service with a QR code.
“This technology allows us to manage not only restaurant bookings but takeaway orders so we can avoid delays and long wait times, it works really well.”
Club CEO Peter Duncan said he is excited to see how Jordan will transform the club’s food offerings and bring it to a new level.
“Waterside is the start of a new era in food and beverage offerings at the club and we are excited to see Jordan and his professional team assist in making the club a go to destination for food,” Peter said.
