Extreme heat timetables to impact V/Line travel

As temperatures rise, an extreme heat timetable is set to be in place for the Seymour line on Thursday, February 13.

The Geelong, Warrnambool, Bairnsdale, Gippsland, and Shepparton lines will also be operating under extreme heat timetables, while partial extreme heat timetables will be in place for the Bendigo, Echuca, and Swan Hill lines.

Passengers are urged to check the V/Line website before travelling to view the latest timetables and service changes.

The Department of Transport and Planning advises travellers to factor in extra time for their journeys.

Extreme heat speed restrictions are enforced when temperatures exceed 36°C to reduce the likelihood of train and track faults, while also keeping passengers safe.

With trains running at reduced speeds, journey times will be longer than usual.

Passengers will have access to drinking water on board, but are encouraged to bring their own bottled water and wear cool clothing.

The Australian Rail Track Corporation manages decisions regarding extreme heat speed restrictions on the Albury Line.

Any delays will be communicated via the V/Line website and mobile app.
