The Deniliquin and Wandook RFS brigades responded about 6.20pm, and spent 90 minutes extinguishing the fire.
Insp Adamson said the permit period does not end until this Friday, meaning no burns should be taking place without necessary approvals.
He also reminded all landholders that all burns — whether in or out of the permit period — must be registered with the RFS at www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/notify 24 hours prior to burning.
