Member for Northern Victoria Mark Gepp advised on August 19 of a combined $25.49 million investment for nurses and doctors in the Moira region.
It includes $12.33 million at Yarrawonga District Health Services which is $632,000 more than the previous 12 months. It also includes $23.79 million at Nathalia, Cobram and Numurkah Health Services (NCN).
“Patients and their families in Moira will continue to get the very best care from our hard-working doctors and nurses, thanks to a big funding boost from the Andrews Labor Government,” Member for Northern Victoria Mark Gepp told the Yarrawonga Chronicle.
Yarrawonga Health CEO Elaine Mallows said Yarrawonga Health is grateful for the increase in operating budget this year.
“Yarrawonga Health continues to work towards improved sustainability of operations however this can be challenging with operational costs increasing year on year,” she added.
Yarrawonga Health continues to actively pursue funding opportunities to alleviate infrastructure problems with the $10m plus operating theatre at the top of the list.
Member for Ovens Valley Tim McCurdy said the funding announced by Mr Gepp is recurrent funding for business as usual for our health services.
“This is not new funds but re-announced funding from the State Budget in May,” Mr McCurdy said.
“I am continuing to work with the Yarrawonga District Health to secure funding for the urgently needed operating theatre and other important infrastructure by the end of 2020.”
Mr Gepp said the Labor Government is also making dental care free in Victorian public schools, providing 500,000 specialist appointments in regional Victoria, recruiting more nurses, midwives and paramedics, and getting on with the job of delivering its $3.8 billion pipeline of hospital construction projects.
