Influenza activity still increasing

Test positivity for influenza A has increased again in the Murrumbidgee Local Health District.

In the latest NSW respiratory surveillance report, dates July 6, this key indicator of activity increased to 26 per cent - up from 24 per cent a week earlier.

“Influenza activity remains at a high level with some indication of a plateau in emergency data and notifications,” the report said.

“There is likely to be continued influenza activity for the next few weeks.”

Considering all RSV indicators, the report suggests activity is considered to be at a moderate level.

Pertussis and pneumonia continue to be unseasonably high in school aged children.

COVID-19 activity continues to decline.

MLHD is urging those most at risk to get their flu shots and other appropriate vaccinations.

With all three viruses circulating, people are also asked to avoid visiting high-risk settings including hospitals and aged care facilities if they are experiencing symptoms of respiratory illness.
