Education is an investment in our children’s future. Labor has made TAFE free, including at SuniTAFE in Swan Hill and Bendigo TAFE Echuca, helping more people gain the skills they need without having to worry about course costs.
We have also funded more school upgrades across Murray Plains, including $6 million each for St Mary MacKillop College in Swan Hill and St Joseph’s College in Echuca, with both projects due for completion in 2027.
And with free kinder, we’re helping families with the cost of living while giving children a strong start.
When someone you love needs emergency care, you want them to get it right away. A re-elected Carroll Labor Government will expand the Swan Hill Hospital Emergency Department again.
It’s part of our plan to expand emergency departments at 12 of Victoria’s busiest hospitals, including the Royal Children’s Hospital.
This commitment builds on what we’ve already done: our upgrades to Swan Hill Hospital have increased the emergency department’s annual capacity from 16,000 to 25,000 patients.
The contrast couldn’t be clearer. Labor has opened 12 new hospitals, and now we’ll expand emergency departments at 12 more.
When Jeff Kennett was in power, they closed 12 hospitals.
That means beds closed, nurses sacked and longer wait times.
Regional families shouldn’t have to carry a financial burden to access healthcare.
That’s why a re-elected Carroll Labor Government will invest $53.6 million to expand the Victorian Patient Transport Assistance Scheme. The changes will make healthcare cheaper for close to 30,000 regional Victorians who rely on fuel and accommodation subsidies to attend medical appointments and receive treatment.
Rising fuel prices and transport costs are putting pressure on household budgets and local businesses.
A re-elected Carroll Labor Government will cap public transport fares and tolls at $30 a week. For Murray Plains motorists, that means you won’t pay more than $30 a week in tolls.
It covers cars, utes, vans and motorbikes, saving you up to $5000 per vehicle. Small business owners can claim on up to five vehicles, and the rebate can be claimed each quarter through Service Victoria, just like the 20 per cent off rego earlier this year.
Our regional communities need investment, reliable services and practical support - not decisions that make life harder for families.
The Opposition’s plans include $40 billion in cuts, that means cuts to hospitals, schools and frontline services.
You can’t promise a bridge with one hand while cutting a hospital with the other.
Victorians cannot afford the real risk of a Liberal-One Nation Coalition Government that hurts working people.
As your Labor candidate for Murray Plains, I will work for the people of Murray Plains to support local families, strengthen our community and build a future where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
