Boasting a total donation amount of more than $175,000 to Kyabram District Health Service, the 11th annual lunch will continue with its tried and true formula.
Event chair Nick Curnow said 186 tickets had been sold for the event, surpassing the committee’s goal by six sales.
“That’s pretty good — real good, actually,” he said.
Acclaimed journalist Andrew Rule, widely known for co-writing the Underbelly and Chopper true-crime series, was announced as the guest speaker.
Mr Rule’s first book, Cuckoo, detailed the abduction and murder of Shepparton teenagers Gary Heywood and Abina Madill by notorious murderer Raymond Edmunds.
“He’s going to talk about basically anything we want. He’s more than happy to open the floor and speak about anything that he knows,” Mr Curnow said.
Entertainment will come from comedian Brett Blake, who will deliver his energetic stand-up style to round out the day.
Often introduced as ‘the man, the mullet, the legend’, Mr Blake was called in to replace fellow comedian Mike Goldstein, who was originally scheduled to perform.
“Then we’ve got an auction, and we’ve got a whole heap of raffle items as well, which we’ll be doing towards the end of the day,” Mr Curnow said.
The event is aiming to raise as much money as possible, with the funds expected to be donated towards specific equipment and services at KDHS.
Tim Nelson will also return as the event emcee following a successful hosting debut last year.
The event will run from noon to 4pm at the Kyabram Parkland Golf Club Pavilion on Friday, February 27.
