Pioneer museum’s $265,000 grant

Mulwala Progress Association President Robert ‘Possum’ Purtle and Member for Albury Justin Clancy (centre) join Mulwala Pioneer Museum Committee members Treasurer Joan Thoms, Joe , President Kaye Thompson and past President Bill Gleeson at the funding announcement.

The Mulwala Pioneer Museum is set to undergo a substantial refurbishment, courtesy of a NSW Government Stronger Country Communities grant of $265,000 announced on Tuesday, January 31.

The funding will go towards fixing one of the outer walls of the museum which was deteriorating before it suffered further damage in the 2020 earthquake.

Member for Albury Justin Clancy, who understands the significance of the museum to Mulwala’s history, made the announcement at the pioneer museum, much to the delight of local members who are hoping to be able to conduct further renovations to the museum once the wall has been fixed.

A more extensive article and pictures will appear in next week’s edition of the Yarrawonga Chronicle.
