From a meet and greet for early arrivals last Thursday to Sunday’s big program including a huge show n shine at J C Lowe Oval, it was a magnificent spectacle.
Saturday night’s Belmore Street parade was watched by hundreds and hundreds of locals and visitors.
“There are 568 hot rods and you’d expect three times that amount of people involved, with partners and their kids – about 1500 are here today associated with our 2024 run,” event co-ordinator Wayne Sartori on behalf of Northen Suburbs Street Rods (NSSR) from told the Yarrawonga Chronicle.
“The support we’ve had has just been fantastic. All the hotels, the three clubs – especially the ski club – were just fantastic support. The holiday park here with Shaun Driscoll, the whole community have been great support.”
Hot rods and their owners came from almost every part of Australia.
“We have people from the Northen Territory, Queensland, South Australia, Victoria and Tasmania, all except Western Australia,” NSSR President Craig Edward said.
“It’s absolutely fantastic and the town has got right behind us.”
For the 12 th straight year, Richie Mierierco of Sydney gave the usual half-kilometre ride in town for seven hours, from 3.00pm to 10.00pm last Saturday to youngsters in his beautiful 1923 T Bucket Ford. “I think it was the best ever,” Mr Wright said.
“The crowd loved it, the police were happy, so I’m happy! The weather was perfect, there were many regional visitors and we were on TV’s Sunrise from Mulwala Water Ski Club.”
Noel Inman of Sunshine had the oldest hot rod last Sunday, a black-coloured 1922 Model Ford which featured centre door, air conditioning and electric window openers.

“The kids loved it,” Richie said.
“We love seeing the smiles on the kids’ faces and they were so well mannered thanking us.
“We registered our hot rod in 1984. We just love it and always love coming to Yarrawonga.”
