Red’s seat by Shirley

Patrick (Red) Larkin loved Mulwala, especially the foreshore. His widow Shirley has made sure of a lasting memory at the foreshore in respect of her late husband.

It is a seat, blending in perfectly with the surrounds. At the side of the seat is a willow tree planted by Red in 2001 as a lasting gift to his wife.

Following the tragic and quick passing of Red in March 2020 aged 72-years, Shirley wanted something significant on the foreshore in memory of Red. Hence the seat.

The idea of a seat was welcomed by Mulwala Progress Association President Robert Purtle OAM.

“Red was a very staunch Mulwala man and loved the Mulwala Foreshore,” he said. “He used to admire beautiful Lake Mulwala. Red and Shirley were childhood sweethearts.

“With the help of Mulwala Progress Association, Shirley installed the seat which is a very welcome addition to our beautiful foreshore area.”
