Upon driving to and from Moira Shire you would see bright signs on the Murray Valley Highway and other main roads welcoming you to the shire.
Moira Shire Council are currently asking the community to help design motifs for these signs as they will display an individual motif to each town, for example a sheep, tree or water skier.
Mayor Libro Mustica said it was an opportunity for residents to display an image that is iconic with their town.
“This is a great opportunity for our communities to have their say,” Cr Mustica said.
“We’re asking for residents to submit their ideas of an image or motif that reflects their town. These motifs will be an integral part of the town entrance sign, something which will be seen by locals and tourists alike.
“The new signage builds on the energy and impact of council’s revitalised logo and reinforces council’s vision of the shire working together to be a vibrant and prosperous rural community.”
There will be two stages to this consultation process.
In the first stage, council would like to hear your ideas on what motif you believe would be suitable.
The second stage will be your chance to vote of the short list of motif ideas.
The chosen motif will then be placed front and centre and be an integral part of the entrance sign.
This new signage builds on the energy and impact of the shire’s revitalised logo and reinforces the vision of the shire working together to be a vibrant and prosperous rural community.
Go to the Moira Shire website for more information or to submit your ideas.
The feedback period for this first round of consultation will close at 5pm this Friday, August 14.
