This year's theme, ‘Set the Standard Show 'em How it's Done’, highlights the importance of leading by example and creating a strong culture of safety on every farm.
"Across Ovens Valley, farming is more than a job; it's a way of life," Mr McCurdy said.
"Our farms are not only workplaces, they're family homes where children grow up, generations work together and livelihoods are built; that's why making safety a priority is so important."
Mr McCurdy said too many Australian families had been impacted by preventable farm accidents, with simple actions often making the biggest difference.
"Whether it's taking a few extra minutes to check machinery, managing fatigue during busy seasons, wearing the right protective equipment or ensuring children stay well away from hazardous work areas, those small decisions can save lives," he said.
Mr McCurdy encouraged everyone living and working on farms to take time during Farm Safety Week to review potential hazards and have conversations about safe work practices.
"To every farming family across Ovens Valley, thank you for the incredible contribution you make to our communities," he said.
"Let's all do our part to ensure everyone who heads out through the farm gate returns home safely at the end of the day."
