The interactive display gave students a chance to explore the world of heavy vehicles, learn about safety, and see how technology is shaping the future of transport.
Deniliquin High School Driver Education Training committee member Jenny Fellows coordinated the visit, with Craig and Collette Forsyth leading sessions that covered everything from blind spots and stopping distances to the importance of truck safety.
Hazel Bench and Martha Ogodo get their chance to explore the truck cab.
The program aims to familiarise the younger generation with the transport industry and highlight career pathways.
“It’s about exposing people to trucks,” Mr Forsyth said, noting that the K‑12 adapted program helps students understand how trucks operate safely on the road.
“For these younger years we adapt the program, go through blind spots, stopping safely, and read them a story to deliver the messages.”
Students were able to have a go on the state of the art simulators inside the truck, to experience what it’s like behind the wheel.
The visit was part of a national initiative running from May 11 to 18, with Steering the Future continuing on to Sydney, Goulburn and Murralain to finish the week.
