In a time when we are all staying home to stop the spread of a vicious virus, a number of businesses are assisting the community by providing take away or delivery meals.
Bundalong Tavern closed a number of weeks ago when the government announced due to the COVID-19 crisis all licensed premises were to close to slow the spread of the virus.
Since then owners Brett and Lynette Butler have decided to ‘reopen’ the premises to provide takeaway meals and beverages while also assisting fellow Bundalong business Watts in Bundalong Cafe who reopened on Good Friday for a delicious way to start your day.
“We’ve had a few weeks to absorb being shut down due to the current circumstances,” Brett said.“Our life has been flat out since buying the pub nearly three years ago and this is the first time we have actually had a bit of time to enjoy our kids and take a breath.
“It’s been a little bittersweet, but we are ready to get back into it.
“Keeping staff on is our main priority – it helps locals and is just our little bit to help.
“Everyone is supporting each other especially in a little township like Bundalong.”
The Tavern opened again for takeaway meals and beverages last Thursday with staples on the menu including wood fired pizza, pasta dishes, burgers, parma’s, and old fashioned fish n chips (fresh delivered fish every week from Borella seafoods) house battered.
“We had a great response on Good Friday with our fresh fish n chips, we sold out of fresh flake and nearly got through the fresh flathead tails cooking over 140 meals,” Brett said.
“Deliveries will be available depending on demand and staff. Call us on 5726 8586 or 0425763927 to pre book orders and keep an eye on our Facebook page as we are in the process of a website so you can order and pay to keep it hassle free and a zero-contact approach.”
In an even bigger display of assistance and kindness, Brett has expressed that he himself will lend a hand to those doing it tough in these times by delivering free meals to your door.
“If you are doing it tough private message me on 0425-787-886 and I’ll organise free meals delivered to your home discreetly,” Brett said.
“Please don’t be ashamed, we are happy to help anyone that is struggling at the moment as these are tough times.
“We just want to help people who have helped us all year.
“We as a society need some positives so this is our little piece of positivity.”Watts in Bundalong Cafe are also trialling a reopen serving takeaway coffees and lunches as they opened between 8am – 11am on Good Friday.
“Takeaway drinks and perhaps a mid-morning snack as a reward for your daily exercise,” Watts in Bundalong Café Facebook reads.
“The Watts in Bundalong Cafe team all hope that opening for takeaways a few hours on a regular basis assists the community with their caffeine fix, provides our staff with stable employment and allows for a brief respite from the vigorous amount of exercise our community is undertaking at present.”
“If this proves helpful to our community we will continue on a routine basis.”
Please adhere to government guidelines in regards to COVID-19 but where you can, help support our local businesses to maintain their longevity.
