Friday Night Aggreagate
The main aggregate night is Friday night and this will kick off this Friday, October 16. Arrive just before 6pm and enjoy a relaxed competition catering for all standards.
Players are placed in groups based on ability with three sets of doubles played. A perfect way to spend a Friday evening.
Saturday Morning Tennis
Commencing on October 17 the Saturday morning program will hit the courts. Catering for players aged from 5-16 there are a range of different options.
Places in the Hot Shots and coaching programs are filling quickly and if interested please contact Jason Bassett, Lisa Linehan or Greg Duns.
Hot Shots is designed for tennis novices where the fundamentals are taught on smaller courts with a strong focus on hitting lots of balls.
Coaching is the next phase where participants are taught the technique around each of the shots and especially the all-important serve.
Match play is the third and final component of our Saturday morning where the players are guaranteed three sets each morning.
Junior Squad Program
Last Thursday the Junior Squad Program commenced. It was awesome to see 17 of the best juniors really enjoying themselves.
Squad is overseen by experienced Club Coach Greg Duns. Greg provides a range of drills to ensure stroke and tactical development.
Rock up and play
Other times where anyone can simply sign-in on the day are Saturday at 1pm for all players, Tuesday morning commencing at 9.30 for ladies and Wednesday at 1pm for mens social hit.
There is no compulsion to attend each of these on a weekly basis although once you have tried it once it will be hard to not keep going back.
Junior Group Coaching
Greg Duns offers mid-week group coaching on Wednesday and Friday afternoons for juniors. These are very popular. Greg also provides individual lessons on request to really refine your game.
Tennis is a challenging sport to become proficient at and juniors benefit most from mid-week coaching coupled with Saturday morning match play.
Team Competitions
The YLTC also holds midweek teams events which run from early November until March. These competitions are for men on Tuesday nights and ladies on Thursday nights. Both events commence at 6pm with three sets of doubles played.
Players enter individually and are placed in teams. This ensures that players have close matches every week. They are very social evenings and a great way to catch up with a range of people on a regular basis.
For more serious and committed players the YLTC is very keen to continue its representation in the Goulburn Murray Tennis Association. Over the past few seasons the club has entered a side in Division 2 of this competition.
It is hoped this will happen again this season but there is the opportunity to enter another team in a lower division. This year the season will last 12 rounds commencing on November 7 with matches as far away as Shepparton.
Highly competitive tennis is guaranteed. If interested please let Mike Lairson know as soon as possible.
Membership
For the fourth consecutive season, memberships remain at $80 for juniors, $125 for adults and for $260 there is the opportunity for all family members to enjoy tennis for 12 months of the year.
If you are interested in any of the wonderful and diverse tennis programs during the week please ring Jason Bassett on 0448 838 256 who will provide relevant contacts for each program.
