A woman who allegedly stole more than $800 of groceries from a Kialla supermarket this week has been charged.
Shepparton police’s Operation Securus retail theft team executed a warrant at a Shepparton address on August 25, where they arrested a 51-year-old woman.
Police allege the woman loaded a trolley with goods at Coles supermarket at Riverside Plaza at around 4pm on Monday, August 24, before leaving the store without making any attempt to pay for the items.
During their search, police recovered most of the allegedly stolen items.
The woman was arrested at the house, later interviewed and charged with theft, before being bailed to appear at Shepparton Magistrates’ Court at a later date.
Operation Securus is an ongoing operation that aims to prevent shoplifting offences across Greater Shepparton, and to target prolific thieves who use aggression and intimidation tactics in an attempt to avoid capture or punishment.
Hundreds of offences have been charged to multiple offenders who’ve allegedly stolen thousands of dollars of items since a dedicated retail theft team of five police officers launched operations on May 17.
