Tungamah Bowls Club
October 31 - Midweek Pennant B1’s: At home to Milawa.
A challenging day with Tunga getting up, 66 to 52 shots. A loss, a win by one shot and a good win 27 to 7 to Kerry and Stuart Ralph, Dennis O’Dwyer and Bluey Watt.
Special mention here to the fact that this was the very first game of Pennant for Dennis. He and brother Frank are supporters of the club at practice nights and acquitted himself very well to help with this victory, 12 pts to 2, which puts Tungamah in fourth position on the ladder.
November 4 - Saturday A3’s: Away to ClubMulwala. This was an enjoyable, social day with a great crew to play against. Given the fact that they have lost a few players for various reasons, Tungamah are still doing well to have two teams play on a Saturday.
It will be a bonus to the club’s hospitality when they get a couple of big umbrellas erected for after game socializing now the hot weather is here.
Green was very slick and took some adjusting to. Tunga got up, winning two rinks and the overall, 82 shots to 64. 14pts to 4 moves Tunga up to third spot on the ladder behind Lavington (this week’s opponent) and Moira in second.
November 4 - Saturday B2’s: At home to Wodonga.
With Wodonga being on top of the ladder and Tunga second, this was going to be a test for all involved.
Tungamah prevailed, winning two rinks 64 to 48 shots, 12pts to 2 which leaves them still in second spot, just one point behind Wodonga.
Bowls is very much a team game and if one player or rink is down the other’s just need to keep doing their best.
Well done Tunga just keep that “bowl” rolling.
Saturday, November 11 - both teams are at home.
A3’s play Lavington (top of the ladder) and B2’s play YMGCR at home.
This will be a spectacle with all rinks in use. Bar will be open, supporters and spectators are invited to come and see what is happening at Tungamah Bowls Club.
Congratulations to Deb Thomson who won the members draw last week.
Yarrawonga Bowls
Thank you to the Moira Shire for the grant Yarrawonga Bowls Club received for the new sunshades for the western green.
It came at just the right time for pennant players and all aspects of social bowlers. Now they won’t have the sun bouncing off the cars/mirrors when they bowl towards the northern end.

YMGCR Bowls
Mid–week pennant
YMGCR’s A1 side were hosted by Wodonga and the home team were in no mood to play the gracious host and made short work of YMGCR.
The scores were: Wodonga 70 shots and 14 points to YMGCR 37 shots and 0 points. Ian Febey (L), Shirley Hummel (2), Gary Presnell (3) and Ray Irvine (S) tested their opponents all day but went down narrowly 19 shots to Wodonga’s 21 shots.
It was a reversal of roles in the A2’s where YMGCR hosted Wodonga at the Golf Club, but the scoreboard result was similar to that of YMGCR’s top side.
The A2’s went down 41 shots 0 points to Wodonga 62 shots and 14 points.
An honourable mention has to go to the rink of Cecilia Milne (L), Vicki Withers (2), Gary Hart (3) and Allan Goudge (S), who kept their opponents’ minds on the job all game but went down narrowly 15 shots to Wodonga’s 17 shots.
YMGCR’s A3 side played host to Yackandandah and the visitors won narrowly. Yackandandah 65 shots and 12 points to YMGCR 63 shots and 2 points.
Winning in fine style for YMGCR were Jill Lamson (L), Gavin Borwick (2), Tony Durkin (3) and Ron Lamson (S), who put their opponents to the sword 31 shots to 16 shots.
This was a terrific rink win sadly it wasn’t enough to cover the two other YMGCR rinks.
Wednesday social bowls
12 players enjoyed the superb weather, and each other’s company for Wednesday Social Bowls on the first of the month.
The format for the day was 2 games of 3 bowl pairs, with all games being played on the east green. Winning the day, with a leg in the air, were Col Withers (S) and Frankie Lieberg (L) with two games won and plus 18 shots.
Col and Frankie were the only two game winners, well done gents. In second spot with a loss in the first game and a win in the second game were the combination of Bob Fiddes (S) and Frank McLeod (L) with plus 5 shots.
The rolling jackpot was not claimed and will be nudging $100 next time.
The lucky number was won by Bill Hidson. Wednesday Social will be continuing through the pennant season and with the rolling jackpot approaching $100, why not enjoy a great day and good fellowship.
To participate place your name on the list at the bowls office.
Saturday Pennant
YMGCR’s A1 side travelled to Wodonga where the home side had a comfortable win; Wodonga 72 shots and 16 points to YMGCR 55 shots and 2 points.

Corowa Civic played host to the A2 side and used the home ground advantage to good effect, winning 101 shots and 16 points to YMGCR 75 shots and 2 points.
All was not lost however with the rink of Doug Wheeler (L), Les Wilson (2), Vic Brincat (3) and Neil Loveridge (S) winning in fine style 34 shots to Civic’s 11 shots.

The B2 side visited Corowa Civic and couldn’t manage an away win losing to Civic 55 shots and 2 points to Corowa’s 68 shots and 12 points.
Bringing home a valuable 2 points for YMGCR were the rink of Carolyn Boston (L), Bill Hidson (2), Noel Millar (3) and Cliff Morton (S) who had a 22 shot to 19 shot win over their Civic opponents. Until next week, good bowling.
