Delatite 48 def by Yarrawonga Mulwala 4/205.
B Grade travelled to Benalla to take on Delatite. The Lakers with a vastly different side to the previous week (7 new players) and Delatite playing with nine players was going to make for an interesting match.
Delatite won the toss and elected to bat.
Ollie Connell and Xavier Mitchell opened the bowling for the Lakers and were bowling good line and length.
Mitchell in his first senior grade game was the first to break through when he had the opposing Captain out caught at gully by Gus Browning.
In the next over Connell got himself a wicket, again caught at gully by the Lakers skipper in Browning.
Xavier Mitchell was proving to be a handful for the Delatite bats with good pace and swing troubling the batsman.
This allowed him to take a wicket in his third and fourth overs.
The Lakers youngsters were doing a great job with the ball, although at times a little wide of the mark.
But when they were online, they were proving they have what it takes to perform at senior level. Lucas Eales and Will Murphy came into the attack and followed suit from their fellow teammates bowling good lines and taking three wickets between them.
Will Murphy took the final two wickets both bowled. Kade Sullivan was the other bowler used by the Lakers, bowling a tight line and length.
Bowling figures in a good display were: O. Connell 1/14; X. Mitchell 3/18; L. Eales 1/7; W. Murphy 2/3 and K. Sullivan 0/5.
Delatite all out for 48.
After a short break the Lakers took to the crease to chase down the 48 set by Delatite. Ollie Cope and the returning Geoff Montgomery lead the charge for the Lakers.
The pair pounced on anything short and also placed the ball well. The pair managing to pass the target in the eighth over.
The pair weren’t satisfied and continued on to put together the third highest B Grade opening stand of 157.
Montgomery the first wicket to fall making 81 from 74 balls on a very warm day. TJ Docking and Cope put together another partnership before Cope was out for a well compiled 79 from 83 balls. Both batsmen were caught by their Captain who was assisting the opposition by substitute fielding.
TJ Docking was the other batsman to make double figures with 19 not out as the Lakers finished their 36 overs at 4/205.
Another good win for the Lakers B Grade as they head into the final game before the B Graders Christmas break at Wangaratta against City Colts.
