The Tungamah Football Netball Club are excited to announce their senior co-coaches for the 2023/24 seasons with Sam Ferguson and Sean Johns at the helm for the next two seasons.
The new leaders will follow on from the excellent work of outgoing coach Xavier Stevenson who has set a great platform for them to build off.
Tungamah Football Netball Club President Josh Buerckner said: “Sam has been a fantastic addition to our club, his on-field performance was brilliant finishing runner up in our Best and Fairest and he is a natural leader.
“Sam has played at the Shepparton Swans, captained Congupna for four years winning a Best and Fairest there and has represented the MFL on six occasions.
“He also had a stint with the North London Lions while he was overseas winning their Best and Fairest.”
Sean Johns is a familiar name in the area, previously playing with Mulwala before taking on an imperative role with the Bears.
“Sean comes to us after playing six seasons with Mulwala, where he was an important cog in their premiership this season,” Buerckner said.
“He captained the Murray Bushrangers and represented NSW/ACT in the under 18 championships. He has also played at the Wangaratta Magpies, and Strathfieldsaye helping them to their first premiership.
“Sean is looking forward to the next phase in his career stepping into the coaching role.
“Both men are school teachers and work together in Shepparton. They will be fantastic developing our young playing list and hopefully we can go one step further in 2023.
“I would like to thank outgoing coach Xavier Stevenson for his efforts over the last two seasons as he has brought a level of professionalism to the club, and we wish him all the best coaching the Shepparton Bears.”
Tungamah have been active on the signing front already with an article and more signings to come later in the off season.
